Family Guy age

I'm not too sure if I can post this here but wanted to check if you thought family guy was a suitable program for a 12 year old. What sort of age would you say it should be watched from?

I'd have said that its ok for a 12 year old but depending on how they are with the real world. Language wise there is not too much f-ing and blinding but it can be very adult themed. Therefore I'd say 14 + really but I think you only have to look at what time it is aired on the TV to see that it should be older kids. The DVD's range from 12 to 15 rating however.

Depends on the type of kid. Almost all twelve year olds have watched Family Guy, really. It's probably not appropriate, really, but people still do watch it.

I agree it depends on the type of child. Some children will easily repeat what they see on television, other children are better at understanding the entertainment value of such a show and know that it's only funny because the things they are showing aren't real. I'd say 14+ is a good guideline, but some twelve-year-olds might be fine watching it too. It's all about knowing your child and what they can handle.

I would say 13. Teenagers know all the crap that Family Guy says and does anyway, it's not like you'd be wrecking your teenage kid. I wouldn't let the younger impressionable kids watch it though.

I think Family Guy is suitable for 18+ only. I mean I know it is a cartoon but the material and the content is very mature and adult oriented. Also the language is not appropriate for kids.

No it has too many sexual situations and innuendo implied throughout the show. I do not think it would be appropriate for anyone younger than eighteen honestly. The show is funny for adults but there is way to much inappopriate content in it for an impressionable 12 year old to watch.

I'm not a fan of Family Guy because of all the adult themes. I don't think it's something I'd want my kids to watch. I know there are plenty of people that love the show, but I just don't see why the antics are considered to be funny.

It really all depends on what you want your child hearing.
Personally, I believe 16 years or older is a suitable age for watching Family Guy.
I personally don't think it'd be good for a 12 year old to be watching programs like Family Guy with so many adult themes included.

You are right. One thing about Family Guy is sometimes, it gets too offensive on racist themes about Black people and Jews and also makes too much, unwanted fun of sensitive topics like AIDS.
